On Thursday, 14 May, seven of our Grade 11 learners represented our school at the Joe Gqabi District Essay Competition in Barkly East. The event, organized in celebration of International Museums Day, focused on the theme: “Museums Uniting a Divided World.”
Having entered the district-level competition, these learners received invitations to present their essays in person. The presentations offered students an opportunity to explore and articulate the role of cultural institutions in fostering unity, understanding, and shared heritage within society.
The participating Grade 11 learners were:
- Kiddist Abicho Adie
- Iyana Mandlendoda
- Tiamo Mphuthing
- Adjah Diop
- Nevaeh Abrahams
- Reanetse Khosi
- Usenathi Ngxazana

An excursion of this nature requires preparation and coordination. We would like to express our gratitude to our English teacher, Ms. Inga James, who accompanied the learners to Barkly East and assisted them in refining their essays.
We congratulate our learners on their participation and thank the organizers for providing a platform that encourages critical thinking and public speaking.
