On 26 August 1926, the cornerstone of what is now the Lady Grey Arts Academy was established. Exactly one century later, our school community gathered to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of our iconic campus buildings—honouring a rich legacy of education, artistic excellence, and heritage.

The centenary celebration commenced at midday, opening with a proud, united rendition of the National Anthem. The Principal delivered an inspiring address reflecting on the history of our sandstone architecture, acknowledging the generations of educators and learners who have walked these corridors, and setting a visionary course for the next century of creative learning.

In true Lady Grey Arts Academy tradition, the celebration was brought to life through outstanding artistic performances:

  • Dance: Our Dance Studies learners captivated the audience with expressive, finely choreographed routines.
  • Music: Attendees were treated to a special musical performance by our visiting Swedish exchange student, as well as stirring harmonies delivered by the talented LGAA Trio.
  • Recognition: The event also served as an occasion to celebrate student achievement with the presentation of our prestigious Arts Awards, recognising learners who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their craft.

The festivities concluded on a joyful note as learners, educators, and staff gathered on the grounds to share commemorative centenary cake.

For 100 years, these historic walls have stood as a sanctuary for young creatives, thinkers, and leaders. As we look ahead to the next 100 years, Lady Grey Arts Academy remains dedicated to preserving its heritage while continuing to innovate in arts education.
