What an absolutely unforgettable day it has been for our Grade 5 class! Today, our classroom was filled with excitement as students gathered for a special Zoom meeting, connecting live with a classroom of students at an Arabic school all the way in Oman.
The digital bridge between our schools allowed for a rich and engaging conversation. Our students had the chance to learn directly from their new friends about the traditions and meaning of Ramadan, gaining a personal perspective on this important time. They also eagerly compared notes on their different school days, from the subjects they study to the way their lessons are taught. It was a powerful reminder that while our cultures may differ, the curiosity and joy of learning is a universal language.
I am beaming with pride for our mature and thoughtful Grade 5 class. The way they handled the conversation, the intelligent questions they posed, and the respect they showed for their peers was simply outstanding. They were a credit to themselves and to our entire school community.
None of this would have been possible without the hard work and brilliant coordination of Mrs. Viljean Kotze Burger, who worked tirelessly to arrange this special event. Thank you, Mrs. Burger, for giving our students a memory and a lesson that they will carry with them for a long time to come.
